| Countertop Care - Indoor |
Do’s: |
- Daily cleaning of your countertop should be done with mild dish detergent followed by drying with a paper towel or a soft cloth. Use of a natural stone specific product is also recommended.
- Clean up spills immediately with an absorbent paper or a soft cloth.
- For more intensive cleaning, use of regular household glass and surface cleaners are approved. Additionally, any product that is labeled safe for use on granite or treated granite is acceptable for use.
- Polishes and cleaners specifically formulated for natural stone (marble and granite) are acceptable.
Don’ts: |
- Do not use abrasive cleaners/sponges to clean your countertops.
- Do not use household cleaning chemicals that contain bleach or acids such as, bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, tub and tile cleaners, and drain cleaners. All chemical spills on your countertop should be cleaned up immediately and rinsed thoroughly using clean water.
- Do not abuse the countertop. Abuse includes, but is not limited to, use that is unreasonable considering the normal and expected use of a typical kitchen countertop.
- Do not drop heavy objects on the product or place excessive weight on the surface of the countertop as this can cause your countertop to chip
or crack..
- Do not sit, stand or kneel on the countertop; this can cause undue stress and may result in cracks.
- Protect countertops by using a cutting board when cutting requires force.

Everlife™ Marble Countertops. Bianco Carrara and Sunny Dark. |
Marble countertops should be treated differently than granite countertops. Innovative Stone™ recommends the use of cutting boards, place mats and coasters to protect your marble countertop surface. Naturally, marble is sensitive to low Ph acidic products. Common food and beverages like, fruit juice, vinegar and alcoholic beverages may etch or stain the surface. These spills should be wipe up immediately and cleaned with mild detergent
and water.

Everlife™ Soapstone Countertops. |
Soapstone is composed largely of talc, which gives it the soapy feel. It is very dense and inert to acids and alkalis, making it a great countertop surface. We recommend you treat your soapstone countertop liberally with pure, clear mineral oil after installation. The oil should be allowed to sit for about an hour, and then the excess wiped off with a cloth. You should repeat this process weekly for a few months, decreasing the frequency to once a month and ultimately to three or four times a year as the stone remains naturally darker between oiling. This darkening also enhances the natural features and variations in the stone and it will eventually develop a rich deep patina. Though soapstone scratches easily, the scratches become quickly invisible with a reapplication of mineral oil.
